CASA of the Tenth Announces Winners of CASAblanca—November 2022
The 17th Annual CASAblanca Dancing with the Local Stars was a fun-filled evening of entertainment to raise awareness of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the Tenth Judicial Circuit and its mission. It featured eleven local celebrities partnered with dance instructors, all vying for two awards. The People’s Choice Award was presented to the dancers who accumulated the most votes based on fundraising, while the Critics’ Choice award was presented to the dancers who accumulated the most votes based on the judges’ scores and audience votes. CASA of the Tenth Judicial Circuit is excited to launch CASA Choices for older youth in care. CASA Choices connects youth and young adults to community members, who provide each person with a belief in and an idea of a future through careers and lives without limitations or labels. CASA of the Tenth Judicial Circuit was awarded two grants, totaling $3,000, from Liberty Mutual Insurance. These funds were made available through Liberty Torchbearers, a program that recognizes Liberty Mutual employees who support causes they care about through serving, giving and volunteering. During Pandemic, Local Volunteers Work to Ensure At-Risk Children are Safe: CASA Volunteers Needed Now More than Ever
Child abuse and neglect is likely on the rise in the face of this pandemic, as families are put under more financial and emotional stress. Children are no longer in the public eye—they are not at schools or daycare, or in other locations where caring individuals would be able to spot signs of abuse. One group of volunteers in The Tenth Judicial Circuit is working hard to ensure that abuse and neglect do not go unnoticed. Read more…
CASA of the Tenth Judicial Circuit Hosts Volunteer Training
The next training class to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for a child who has experienced abuse or neglect begins Monday, March 9, 2020. This flex training incorporates both classroom sessions and online learning with the classroom instruction occurring from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. on March 9, 12, 16, 19, 23, 26 at Advanced Medical Transport, 1718 N Sterling Ave, Peoria. CASA Looking for Volunteers to Fill Critical Shortage—July 2019
CASA is looking for volunteer advocates to answer the call and speak up for an abused and/or neglected child. There is a critical shortage of volunteers to serve the nearly 1,800 children involved with the child welfare system in Peoria, Tazewell, Marshall, Putnam and Stark counties. After completion of a pre-service training, volunteers need only commit to a minimum of 5 hours a month on their own schedule. Read more…
